Adult Language Education For Critically Endangered BC Languages
The First Nations oriented program at Simon Fraser University Kamloops has provided Aboriginal language and language teacher training courses for numerous communities in BC for many years. The presenter will discuss successes and challenges that face such programs and adult learners.

Assessment Strategies Within A Cree Classroom
Outcomes of a lesson set out strategies for assessments. Assessment is not achieved unless outcomes are clear and relevant. This workshop will explore and demonstrate how setting outcomes leads to real assessment.

The Gift Of Language And Culture: Cree Immersion Curriculum And Resource Development
This workshop will include and introduction to the process and evolution of curriculum and resource development; and overview of language immersion programs; practical considerations prior to beginning an immersion program; and, the history of the Cree Immersion project at Onion Lake, SK.

Land Based Education
Otter Nelson River School in Pimicikamak Cree Nation in Northern Manitoba has been involved with traditional cultural teachings through land-based activities and using the Cree language as part of the regular curriculum. Students are involved with daily traditional hunting, fishing, trapping, gathering skills and activities. The program has been developed and implemented by Aldrick Leask and Danny Halcrow of Pimicikamak Cree Nation.
